Nature is within reach - spend your summer holiday amidst the Arlberg’s pristine nature starting on 12 June 2024

So many mountains, so many possibilities

The activities available to you in summer in Lech Zürs are as varied as the Arlberg itself. There’s so much to do: From hiking, trail running or taking the perfect landscape photo. Golfing, mountain biking, fishing or swimming at the new Lech forest swimming pool: A summer holiday in Lech Zürs is equally as exciting for families, couples or solo explorers.

The Lech mountain summer takes place from 12 June to 6 October 2024.

Hiking - Explore the natural world, find yourself

Back to the roots, to the pristine natural landscape: refresh yourself with clear, fresh spring water and hike in the natural paradise of Arlberg. A well-signposted network of hiking trails leads you through the Arlberg region and offers varied routes at all levels of difficulty.

The Lech Zürs am Arlberg area features three themed trails:

  • The Lechweg trail - this long-distance hiking trail from the Formarinsee lake extends more than 125 km through the Alps and one of Europe’s last wild river landscapes.
  • Der Grüne Ring ("The Green Ring") - this hiking trail showcases the legendary "Der Weisse Ring ("The White Ring") ski circuit in three day stages around Lech Zürs
  • The Tannberg themed trail - Follow in the footsteps of the Walser people past numerous cultural and natural-historical places of interest

Our region boasts a total of 350 km of well-marked hiking trails including hut-to-hut hikes in the Lechquellengebirge range, sunrise hikes to the mountain peaks, or leisurely hikes through Alpine pastures and meadows.

Action for children and families

During the main holiday periods, we offer a children's adventure week together with our outdoor partner Arlberg Alpin. The programme is designed to allow children ages 4 to 14 to enjoy active play in nature. From Monday to Friday, kids can enjoy archery, children's climbing, the Arlenzauberweg trail, canyoning, the Waldcamp grill area, and the opportunity to try out diving at the forest swimming pool. In addition, there are adventures for the whole family on weekends such as climbing and abseiling in a wild stream. All this and more are included with the Lech Card. Another highlight: Hydrospeed! Grab hold of a special swimming board shaped like a ship's bow and let the current of the Lech river pull you through the water. For kids, the course runs from the Tannbergbrücke bridge to the sport.park.lech. Adults can continue on to Warth.

Golfing at the Arlberg - A dream come true.

Austria’s highest 9-hole golf course is 1,500 meters above sea level and runs through the Zugertal valley directly along the Lech river, which must be crossed several times during play. While shooting upstream, golfers can enjoy the unique panorama of the Rote Wand mountain. Even at a glance, it’s easy to recognise that the golf course’s developers desire to preserve the authentic charm of the Zugertal valley. The impact on the environment and landscape has been clearly minimised as far as possible. Here, sport and outdoor experiences go hand in hand. It’s not uncommon to see marmots, golden eagles and other animal Alpine animals during your round.

Mountain biking and cycling on the Arlberg

Road bikers and mountain bikers (including e-bikes and enduro bikes) can look forward to challenging routes and tours in Lech Zürs. The Burgwald Bike Trail is the first official freeride and enduro route in Vorarlberg. Meanwhile, North Shore Trails and Single Trails challenge beginners, the advanced and pros. Both trails are located in the area between Lech and Oberlech and are readily accessible with the Bergbahn Oberlech cable car and Petersboden chairlift. For leisurely mountain bikers with an e-bike or ordinary mountain bike, the trail to the two lakes in the Zugertal valley is highly recommended. Cycling and hiking can be combined on numerous Bike & Hike tours. Additionally, the Tannberg mountain area with a stopover in Warth and Schröcken is well worth the trip. Racing cyclists will profit from a demanding training area, steep climbs and rapid descents on the winding mountain roads. Smile as the kilometres just fly by and before you know it, you’ll be back in Lech Zürs. Once back at your hotel or B&B, enjoy the legendary rest and relaxation for which the Arlberg holiday region is known.

Trailrunning in der Bergwelt von Lech Zürs am Arlberg

Trail running, running on the mountain, is the ideal sport for clearing your head. The 10 diverse running trails in Lech Zürs cover a total of 54 kilometres. Routes lead through flourishing green nature, past rocks and rock formations, towards the summit. A well-deserved award awaits the trail runner once up high: An unrestricted view of the mountain scenery.  The AMAS study investigated how training at medium altitudes (1500-2500 m) affects performance and general well being. The effects of altitude training set in after a short time and affect the musculoskeletal system as well as the hormonal system, leading to lasting well being.
