140 – Alpine emergencies in Austria
112 – Euro emergency number (if you do not have any mobile phone reception in the event of an emergency, switch off your phone, turn back on again and enter 112 instead of the pin code or press the SOS button)
You start in Stuben and follow the village road (pedestrian zone) to the end of the village. Continue along the road to the first hairpin bend - cross the road here and follow the gravel path uphill past the E-Trial Park in the direction of Flexentäli towards the Flexenpass road. Cross there and take the Franz-Josef-Weg (zigzag path uphill) in the direction of Zürs. Cross the road at the top and turn left across the stream in the direction of the Flexenpass. Shortly before the Flexenhäusl, cross the street again and then relatively straight up in a small furrow towards the gravel path. Follow this to the left until the hiking trail branches off - also to the left. Past the Rosskopf mountain, the path then leads through rocky terrain directly to the Erzberg mountain saddle and the Stuben summit cross with a sensational view of Stuben. The way back is the same way.
Sturdy shoes (ankle-high), clothing appropriate for the weather, rain & sun protection, cell phone for emergencies, possibly hiking poles (especially for the descent), enough liquid & possibly small mountain snack.
