The town of Hakuba, to which the Happo Ski Resort belongs, is located in the Japanese Alps near Nagano. Happo hosted all the alpine skiing events of the 1998 Olympics. Happo is one of the leading ski resorts in Japan and is a member of the association “Best of the Classic Mountain Resorts Japan”.
In addition to a well-developed network of ski lifts and pistes, Happo is also home to the two Olympic ski jumps where World Cup jumping takes place every year. Happo has a village character and lives – similar to Lech – mainly from winter tourism. But also the “Japanese Summer” has its charms. The partnership between Hakuba-Happo and Lech was officially established in December 1995.
Since then there have been presentations by Lech and Zürs in Japan and many return visits to Lech. In winter 2010/2011 Japan celebrated the 100th anniversary of skiing. Many pioneers at that time came from the Arlberg and so Lech and Zürs were also represented at the festivities in Hakuba-Happo.
