Impact Lech 2026: In the age of data The Impact Lech symposium, conceived in 2022 by Markus Hengstschläger and Lech Zürs Tourism, has since gained a high reputation and established itself as an intellectual discussion forum. The leitmotif of this congress is the question ‘What effect, what impact do the latest findings and developments have on our daily lives, our work, our society?’ Moderated by some of the country's most renowned journalists, the congress participants are offered lectures, discussions and hut talks in the beautiful surroundings of Lech, highlighting the difference that empowers and motivates people to get involved.
The fifth edition of the ‘Impact Lech’ symposium will take place from 25 to 28 June 2026 and is entitled ‘In the Age of Data’.
In line with the motto ‘Establish facts, form opinions’, this topic will be examined from various perspectives. We live in an age in which the volume and diversity of data generated by humans and machines is growing exponentially. The resulting measurement – for example, of health or training data – and networking – such as energy supply in smart city concepts – exceed the biological capabilities of humans to fully comprehend the underlying processes on an ongoing basis. Only the application of artificial intelligence will enable humans to use these enormous data sets as a resource and basis for decision-making. Whether in society, science, business, industry, sport and perhaps especially in medicine, this data-based revolution opens up unprecedented opportunities for humanity. In order to make the most of these developments, it is necessary to actively address issues such as data quality, data protection, data sovereignty, data storage and processing infrastructure, digital literacy, the power of social networks, fake news, data mining, social scoring and cybercrime. Impact Lech 2026 provides the framework for this – through exclusive discussions based on presentations by high-calibre experts from the fields of science, business, industry, start-ups, ethics, law, education, sport and medicine.
