From Lech or Oberlech the hiking trail leads to Kriegeralpe and then on to Mohnensattel. Here you can decide whether you want to master the summit of the Mohnenfluh or continue downhill to the cool Butzensee. After a short break at Butzensee you come to a turnoff where you can decide whether you want to hike to Schröcken or to hut Göppinger. To the hut Göppinger the stony and bumpy way leads further uphill up to the Butzensattel. The view is breathtaking! The rocky path continues, partly downhill. The left side of the path is sloping. After about two hours you reach the hut Göppinger. Here you can take a break or spend the night.

Turn-by-turn directions

From Lech or Oberlech the hiking trail leads to Kriegeralpe and then on to Mohnensattel. Alternatively, you can take the Lech-Oberlech mountain railway to Oberlech and from there continue with the Petersboden chairlift. The advantage is that you save a lot of ascent way. The signposted hiking trail leads from the Petersbodenbahn past the Kriegeralpe and the Steinmänle. Continuing up the wide gravel road, you reach the Mohnensattel after about 30 minutes. You can decide whether you want to master the summit of the Mohnenfluh or continue downhill to the cool at Lake Butzensee. After a short break at the lake Butzensee there is a turnoff on the shore path where you can decide whether you want to continue to Schröcken or the hut Göppinger. To the hut Göppinger the stony and bumpy way leads further uphill up to the Butzensattel. The view is breathtaking! The rocky path continues, partly downhill. The left side of the path is sloping. After about one hour you reach the junction Braunarlspitze. This path leads steeply uphill to the right. But we continue and after about two hours we reach the hut Göppinger . Here you can take a break or spend the night.

Public transport

Take the train to Langen am Arlberg or St. Anton am Arlberg station. From there, buses (no. 750+760) run at regular intervals to Lech Zürs am Arlberg.

Getting there

From Germany: Take the A 96 to Bregenz from there on the A14 to Bludenz, continue on the S16 to the Lech Zürs am Arlberg exit. Follow the B197 to Alpe Rauz, turn left here onto the B198. Through the Flexengalerie and over the Flexenpass you reach Lech Zürs am Arlberg.

From Switzerland: Via the A13 and the Feldkirch, Hohenems or Lustenau border crossing onto the A14 as far as Bludenz. Continue on the S16 until the exit Lech Zürs am Arlberg. Follow the B197 to Alpe Rauz, turn left here onto the B198. Through the Flexengalerie and over the Flexenpass you reach Lech Zürs am Arlberg.

From Austria: Take the Inntal motorway A12 and then the S16 to the St. Anton am Arlberg exit (Arlbergpass). Follow the B197 first through St. Anton, then through St. Christoph and over the Arlberg Pass to Alpe Rauz. Turn right here onto the B198. Through the Flexengalerie and over the Flexenpass you reach Lech Zürs am Arlberg.

Parking

You can park your car either directly with your host or in the underground car park Anger. The underground car park is located directly in the town centre opposite the Raiffeisenbank Lech.

Good footwear (ankle-high, profiled sole), rucksack with provisions, drinks, rain cover, Lech Card and bus timetable.
