FEDERSPIEL "Blasmusik losgelöst von Erwartungshaltungen"

20:00 O'CLOCK

Creativity, spontaneity and fun are the prime ingredients of the compositions, arrangements and performance of the Austrian brass and woodwind ensemble FEDERSPIEL.

In 2004 seven young musicians, all students of the university for music and performing arts Vienna/conservatoire Vienna became the ensemble FEDERSPIEL.

Folk music from Austria, its neighboring countries and beyond is the basis of their live performance and recorded works. Compositions of the musicians themselves are the core of their repertoire. By producing great melodies and improvisation alongside great musicianship FEDERSPIEL have their own unique sound – always with a shot of humor and never taking themselves too seriously , though without a doubt the music speaks for itself ... simply great!

In July 2022, FEDERSPIEL released their seventh album and program "Albedo".

At the moment the band is working on their 20th band anniversary program and live-album "20 years of FEDERSPIEL". The official release and presentation will take place at Wiener Konzerthaus in autumn 2024.

Alpine folk music and choral works for Christmas

Advent and Christmas are still very much alive in Alpine folk music today. When two renowned Tyrolean ensembles dedicate themselves to the music for the quietest time of the year with honest passion and allow themselves to be dramaturgically networked by an expert, then this guarantees an authentic tuning into the most joyful festival of the year. ORF presenter and folk music expert Peter Kostner accompanies concertgoers on a journey through Advent towards the Christian feast. He is supported by the pastoral sound of the Wilten woodwinds, the intimate playing of Yvonne Kathrein on the Tyrolean folk harp and the most original and intimate means of expressing Advent contemplation and Christmas cheer: the purest choral music from the vocal ensemble NovoCanto. Get in the mood for a joyful Christmas with a high-calibre concert evening in the unique ambience of the Lechwelten.

Among the performers:

The Wiltener Holzbläser are a chamber music ensemble consisting primarily of music teachers, which emerged from the renowned Stadtmusikkapelle Innsbruck-Wilten. The six-member group prefers to perform at Christmas time, has been documented on several recordings and has repeatedly given live performances for radio and television.

In its 25 years of activity, the Tyrolean vocal ensemble NovoCanto has built up an excellent reputation as a stylistically confident interpreter of baroque music in particular. The chamber choir performs at numerous festivals, works regularly with international (baroque) orchestras and early music specialists, has released numerous recordings and is also constantly present in the media. However, the singers have also retained their love of their musical roots, authentic folk music. NovoCanto has been led by pedagogue and musician Wolfgang Kostner since the beginning.

Yvonne Kathrein has been playing the Tyrolean folk harp since early childhood and is a passionate performer in various folk music ensembles. She holds a doctorate in linguistics and works full-time on dialect research at the University of Innsbruck.

Peter Kostner is a professor of music education at the University of Teacher Education Tyrol and a programme designer for ORF Tyrol. His wide-ranging activities as a musician, presenter, choir and brass band conductor make him an expert in the field of folk and brass music.
