The movement known as ‘natural wine’ has become increasingly important over the last 15 years and has not only triggered heated discussions, but has also opened up ideological divides between the various camps.
Katharina and Manuel Wechsler from Rheinhessen see no contradiction between natural and traditionally vinified wines and therefore do not want to decide in favour of one style. The meticulous work in the vineyard of the certified organic winery is the same for all wines anyway. With the ‘CLOUDY BY NATURE’ series, they vinify wines that can be described as ‘natural wines’ in terms of their style and are labelled ‘LAGE. LAGE. LAGE.', a series of classically developed terroir wines - primarily Riesling - with a focus on origin.
CLOUDY BY NATURE
Natural wines the way we love them. Unfiltered, drinkable and a little funky. Tannin, grip and lots of glou glou. Behind ‘Cloudy by Nature’ are our character heads ‘Sexy MF’, ‘Fehlfarbe’, ‘PetNat’ and, most recently, our ‘PinotNoir’.

Origin and terroir are clearly the focus of these wines. Our local and single-vineyard wines all come from the well-known Westhofen limestone vineyards Benn, Kirchspiel and Morstein. Planted decades ago, yesterday and for tomorrow. Intuition and trust, uncompromising quality and great skill are the key to these special wines. Riesling is the constant - here it tastes of Westhofen.
On Thursday 12 December at 4 pm, Katharina & Manuel will present a selection of their wines in The Yurt. The event is primarily aimed at professionals, but consumers interested in wine are also welcome.
